So it is mother's day today and every post on Facebook,
Twitter and other social networking sites shall start praising mothers like
they never did. Why, even Google's top trending topic today is the same. Even I am writing about the same today, cause this day stirs
something up in every one's minds.
Why do we even have a day dedicated to our mother? I know
that there is a father's day, a teacher's day and a children's day too, but
tell me why do we have these days in the first place? Don't we see our mother
daily, talk to her and get scoldings/give her the same daily? She will always
be the same be it any day or any occasion and we shall always love her the
same. The problem with Indian boys is that we don't display openly our
affection towards her, after we reach a certain age as everyone becomes shy and
feels uneasy to tell her that you love her. Instead, we use a different emotion
called anger to fill up the job. Well yes, she might be a little hasty during
some situations, she might call you nicknames in front of your friends, she
might deny permission to spend the night at your friend's place and she might
sometimes ask you not to go out for a movie but that does not change the
relationship you share with her. She will always be the mother and you shall
always be her son/daughter. That little dispute should not generate anger
inside you.
Should we take up resolutions only for the New Year's day?
From this Mother's day, try not to raise your voice against your mom and see
what happens after that. Tell her slowly and softly why you have to really go watch the movie or why you have to spend the night at your friend's place? I am 'half sure' she will understand your plea cause it is she who keeps telling you
'If I am at this stage, it means I have crossed yours!'
Umm, let me end this with the lines from Eminem's song,
cause why? They perfectly describe the scenario of a mother and her son's fight
in the house, that's why.
"But regardless I don't hate you cause, Ma,
You're still beautiful to me, cause you're my mom
Though far be it from you to be calm, our house was
Vietnam"
We all deal with Vietnam battlefields daily, at least I
do, what about you?
